Santosham - Chandivali

I used to see this restaurant listed on Swiggy, and noted the high rating. I never bothered ordering from there as I felt that high ratings of new restaurants are not to be trusted. It was when a colleague at work, one who has a good taste in food, recommended this place that I decided to check it out. The reviews on Google praised the restaurant's thali, idli, and dosa. It was the evening of March 3, 2024, when I decided to check out the restaurant. Given the time of the day. thali was out of the picture, idli and dosa it was. It is probably because of the time of the day, as I found myself to be the only person inside at 5p.m. on a Sunday.  The place was small, with seating for around 25 people.  I ordered the ghee podi idli, and the Santosham special masala dosa. While I waited for my food, I looked around the place. The yellow lighting along with the light brown coloured interiors and furniture was tastefully done. The irritating part was the presence of mosquitoes in the rest

Bayroute

Bayroute in Powai is located in the Transocean building on Lake Boulevard at the corner of the street. It had come up in 2017, and I have visited this place thrice. The place serves good Mediterranean food, with their Hummus Bayroute standing out as one of their best dishes. The pita bread they serve is made fresh and it means that it is served when it is hot and soft. I ordered their soup named Aush when I went with my sister, and although it was nothing but sambar, it tasted very nice. One of the best desserts I have ever had is their Baklava, which they serve with a liquid nitrogen frozen rose that is crushed in front of you on the dish. The frozen rose petals pieces paired along with the baklava makes for an incredible tasting dish. It is an expensive place, and hence it is best to go to the restaurant where the food will be served hot and with some theatrics instead of ordering. I recommend the restaurant and it is one of the top places I shall take visitors to.

1441 pizzeria

As I am writing this, the website of 1441 pizzeria claims that they have 21 outlets all over India, with 17 in Mumbai region (15 in Mumbai and 2 in Navi Mumbai), 3 in Pune, and 2 in Surat. I passed by the Powai outlet quite a few times before on my way to work, but never thought of ordering from there as I confused it with Francesco's pizzeria . It was over the weekend that I decided to try their pizza, and I liked it so much that I ordered twice in the two consecutive days. I had the 5 cheese pizza on the first day, and it tasted good. The second day saw me order garlic bread with cheese, smokey cheese doughballs, and a hot and spicy pizza. My wife gobbled up the garlic bread and left nothing for me. I do not know how it is, but she liked it. The smokey cheese doughballs came with barbeque sauce and a cheese dip. The cheese dip tasted nice, while I found the barbeque sauce to be very strong. It was a good starter, and it paved my way for the hot and spicy pizza, which is one of t

Doolaly taproom

Went to Doolaly taproom in Andheri, where I had some of the best food in my life. Their zatar hummus was the best hummus I had in my life, and their Sundried Tomatoes & Ricotta Pizza is easily the best pizza I have had in my life. This is a place I will take people who are not from town to, and they will definitely enjoy the beer and food.

Francesco's Pizzeria

Ordered Cheesy Garlic Bread and Veggie Delight from the place through Swiggy. The place is located in Sakinaka, and the quality of the garlic bread was really good. The pizza was underwhelming though. The dough was generic, the toppings were out of place, and the pizza did not stand out at all. I will not order from this place again. The rating of the place is suspect, that the 4.3 rating is 2 more than what I would have given. The rating on zomato was lower, at 3.9, and I should start checking the ratings on other platforms more regularly. The place is apparently a chain, with branches in Parel, Malad, and other places. The rating of the place on Zomato in Kemp's corner was 4.0. It is possible that the non veg pizzas are nice, but I cannot imagine that as the dough was not special.

Eva's pizza

Eva's pizza has been a favourite of mine for the past 7 years. It was discovered by a colleague in one of the companies I used to work with, and the dough they use to make their pizzas is simply superb. They have an interesting spice. something I have been unable to figure out, that adds an additional tangy taste to their pizzas. Their margherita pizza is one of my faourites, while the Popeye's pizza and Mexican pizza were two of the favourites of people in office about 7 years ago. Their paneer chill pizza is not for the faint hearted, and one that goes really well on a night with drinks. The super spiciness of the pizza adds an element of contrast to the beer you would be having, and the dish is one of the most unique pizzas you will find in Mumbai.

9th Street Pizzeria

Ordered a margherita pizza and garlic bread from this restaurant. The garlic bread was basically pav roasted in garlic butter, and was of bad quality. The pizza dough was of really terrible quality, and the taste of the pizza was bad. I had ordered food from this place since it was rated 4 on Swiggy. I should have checked the zomato rating, which was 3.6. I am never ordering from this place again.
